Anne Weijs (2000) is a Utrecht-based artist and designer who graduated in Product Design from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht.
Driven by colour, playfulness, and material exploration, she moves between autonomous and applied work. Moving fluidly between art and design, she creates objects that balance functionality, material experimentation, and sculptural presence. Through objects and sculptures, she investigates the relationship between play, nostalgia, and everyday rituals.
Working with paper, plaster, and porcelain, she explores simplicity through techniques such as stacking, balancing, and folding. Each material brings its own qualities to her way of working. Paper allows for the rapid emergence of forms and designing through repetition; plaster invites calm and intuitive making; porcelain enables her to shape and build objects and sculptures. This approach stems from a love of nostalgia and a desire to seek happiness through intuitive making.
The relationship between maker, tools, and material is central to her creative process; it often requires slowing down and making space for the work to emerge. Intuition always leads.
